These terms are an agreement between you and Thomas Bowen, a sole proprietor operating as Journalify ("Journalify", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Journalify iOS app or journalifyapp.com, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Journalify.
1. Who can use Journalify
You must be at least 16 years old to use Journalify. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 16 to create an account.
2. What Journalify is
Journalify: Daily AI Diary ("Journalify") is a journaling app. You jot quick notes during the day, and the Compile feature uses artificial intelligence to turn them into a finished journal entry, which you can edit and save. You can also write and edit entries by hand, browse past entries, build streaks, export your entries, and set reminders. We may add, change, or remove features as the app evolves.
3. Your account
You need an account to use Journalify, created with an email and password or through Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In. Keep your credentials confidential — you're responsible for activity on your account. Give us accurate information, and tell us at support@journalifyapp.com if you believe someone else has accessed your account.
4. Subscriptions and billing
Journalify's full experience, including the AI compile feature, requires a paid subscription. Journalify Premium is offered as two auto-renewing plans purchased through your Apple App Store account: a monthly plan (US$9.99/month) and an annual plan (US$95.99/year), each starting with a 3-day free trial. Prices may vary by region; the exact price and currency are shown in the app before you purchase.
- Free trial. If a plan includes a free trial, it converts to a paid subscription automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
- Renewal. Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Apple charges your App Store payment method.
- Cancelling. Manage or cancel in your device's settings: Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future charges; you keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
- Refunds. Billing is handled by Apple, so refund requests go through Apple, under Apple's policies.
- Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. The subscription lives with your Apple ID — cancel it in your Apple ID settings, or you will keep being charged after your Journalify account is gone.
- Price changes. If prices change, the change applies to future billing periods, with notice and any consent required by the App Store's rules.
5. The AI writing feature
- Compile sends the notes you jotted for a day to our AI providers (OpenRouter, routing to an Anthropic "Claude" model) and returns a drafted entry. How this data is handled is described in our Privacy Policy.
- AI-generated text can be inaccurate. The model is instructed to only restate what your notes say, but you should review the draft — you can edit it freely — before saving. What you save is your record, and your responsibility.
- To keep the service affordable and prevent abuse, reasonable fair-use limits apply to the AI compile feature, and we may adjust these limits as needed to protect the service.
- We may change the underlying AI model or provider at any time.
6. Your content
Your journal is yours. You keep all rights to the entries and notes you create in Journalify; we claim no ownership of them.
So that the app can work, you grant us a limited license to store, host, transmit, and process your content solely to operate and provide Journalify — including sending your jotted notes to our AI providers when you use Compile. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, as described in the Privacy Policy. We do not use your journal content to train AI models.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Journalify in ways that break the law;
- probe, overload, disrupt, or interfere with the service or its security;
- circumvent, or attempt to circumvent, subscription checks or usage limits;
- reverse engineer or copy the app, except where the law permits it despite this term; or
- resell or provide the service to others as your own.
8. Not professional advice
Journalify is a journaling tool, not a medical device or a mental health service. Nothing in the app — including AI-generated entries — is medical, psychological, or other professional advice. If you are in crisis or think you may harm yourself, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line right away.
9. Our intellectual property
The Journalify app, name, logo, design, and all content we created belong to us or our licensors. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app; they don't give you any other rights in it.
10. Termination
You can stop using Journalify at any time and delete your account in Settings → Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially violate these terms or if it's necessary to protect the service or other users; where reasonable we'll tell you why. If your account is terminated, any refund for an unused subscription period is handled by Apple under Apple's policies. Sections 6 (your ownership), 11, 12, and 14 survive termination.
11. Disclaimers
Journalify is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties — express or implied — about the service, including that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated entries will be accurate. Journalify is run by a very small team; we work hard to keep your journal safe, and we also encourage you to use Settings → Export Entries regularly to keep your own backup.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law: we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, or goodwill; and our total liability for all claims relating to Journalify is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, nothing in these terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer-protection law.
13. Apple App Store
You downloaded Journalify from Apple's App Store, so Apple's Media Services terms also apply. Apple is not a party to these terms, is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support services with respect to the app, and has no warranty obligations of any kind. Any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to the app that are not disclaimed here are our responsibility and not Apple's.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep any protections granted by the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Journalify evolves. We'll post the new version here and update the date at the top; for material changes we'll take reasonable steps to notify you in the app. Continuing to use Journalify after a change takes effect means you accept the new terms.
